Pro-Environment as one of Couples for Christ’s Core Values

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings of peace and love in our Lord Jesus Christ!
On the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of the Environment, we are pleased to announce that the Couples for Christ’s Statement of Philosophy has been officially updated and revised to more fully express the depth and direction of our mission in today’s world. The revision includes a clear and intentional commitment to care for creation and uphold environmental stewardship, in line with Catholic Social Teaching and the guidance of the Church through Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si and Laudato Deum.
As a community called to renew the face of the earth, we recognize that care for the environment is not separate from our calling—it is integral to it. It is also our mission to bring more Christians into this shared understanding for life. Thus, our updated core values now include being “Pro-Environment”. The pro-environment clause affirms our desire to:
- Promote a culture of ecological responsibility in our homes and communities
- Support sustainable practices in our events, activities, missions
- Form our members to be stewards of God’s creation
- Partner with the Church and society in responding to environmental crisis with action and hope
We encourage all members to read and reflect on the updated Core Values and Statement of Philosophy, which is attached hereto. May it guide us as we continue on this journey towards fullness of life.
Let us remain faithful to our calling—and now, more than ever, let us also be faithful stewards of God’s creation.
