The Archbishop Paul Cremona, OP has nominated David Callaby Floridia, a young man of 34, as the President of the Youth Diocesan Commission (Kummissjoni Djocesana Zghazagh or KDZ). He is replacing Anthony Mifsud, who has been leading the Commission for the past 5 years. David is married to Ana.
David Callaby Floridia was born in Paceville on 12 September 1979. He received his education at Stella Maris College, Gzira, and graduated from the University of Malta as a Bachelor in Social Work. Following that, he continued his studies and obtained a Masters in Youth Ministry. At present he is a lecturer and teaches youth with different abilities.
Throughout these last 10 years, David worked with youth from different levels of society. He had various experiences of voluntary work in Malta and abroad, particularly with the Couples of Christ Community, the Salesians and the Missionaries of Charity.
On the Archbishop's express desire, KDZ will continue its work with youth, both those committed in various groups and organizations within the Church and both with youths that are away from the Church. This apostolate has to be built on the principles of relationship, formation, study and support in the field of discipleship for adolescents and youth.
