BISHOP Broderick Pabillo, the new spiritual adviser of Couples for Christ, visited the CFC sede di Roma office (sede di Roma is Italian for “situated in Rome”). The prelate celebrated Mass on September 30, attended by Philippine Ambassador to the Vatican Hon. Grace Princesa; Ms. Marita Wasan, President of Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas; and CFC Rome members.
Bishop Pabillo, in his homily, emphasized Christ's inclusiveness—“For whoever is not against us is for us.” He encouraged CFC to reach out to the laity who are not part of any organization. The Mass was followed by a sumptuous lunch, with food brought by everyone potluck style.
After lunch, Bishop Pabillo gave a talk to CFC Rome members, including Youth for Christ, Singles for Christ and Handmaids of the Lord. He focused on the important role that the laity plays in the Church, emphasizing that the lay actually consists of 99.9% of the Church, and therefore carries a significant responsibility in helping form and shape society.
The talk was capped by a lively question and answer session, especially on the current situation in the Philippines. (Joe Tale)
