CFC Institute discusses ups and downs of parenting
Monday, April 23, 2018

Parenting kids these days may be a tough job for some parents, considering the factors that affect them as they grow. With this in mind, the Couples for Christ Institute (CFCI) offered a free lecture on “Parenting Today’s Children: The Z and Alpha Generation Kids”.

The lecture was held on March 17, 2018 at the Christ the King House of Spirituality, Quezon City, with Shiela Marie G. Hocson, Ph.D., president of the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association, as the keynote speaker.CFC members, educators and parents attended the lecture, gaining significant insights on how to pastor the kids of this generation.

Hocson began, “There’s no perfect ingredient to become a parent. It’s really a long, long process.”

Hocson then proceeded to dish out pieces of advice and narrated true stories of how parenting has evolved throughout the years, and how parents were able to overcome the challenges of raising their kids.

One of the noteworthy advice from Hocson’s lecture is how a parent should empathize and have a caring attitude. To show their love, parents must be compassionate and adapt the traits of being genuine, friendly, and kind, backed up by firm discipline. (Yvonne Dolorosa)
