CFC Laguna: A Night with the Clergy
Tuesday, September 26, 2017

For the second straight year, CFC Laguna treated the members of the Clergy of the Diocese of San Pablo to a night of fellowship, singing and dining. The event was capped by a pledge of unity for CFC and the clergy to continue with their shared mission to spread the good news of salvation. Dubbed as, “Pari-Parishioners:2gether”, the Clergy Night was held last August 31, 2017 at Ding Hao Chinese Cui-sine in Calamba City.

The event opened with CFC Laguna Provincial Area Head Eric de los Reyes, together with CFC Church Relations Office Head, George Campos, welcoming parish priests from the different vicariates of the Diocese, accompanied by CFC Laguna chapter leaders and members.

De los Reyes affirmed that the event is to honor the clergy because, “Our priests are teaching, sanctifying and governing us so we can deepen our relationship with the Lord.” Campos explained, “This Clergy Night is an informal gathering and a night of fun, enjoyment and singing that can, hopefully, help us improve our community’s relationship with the Clergy.”

The clergy was led by the Most Rev. Buenaventura Famadico, Bishop of the Diocese of San Pablo, who declared, “Kayong mga mag-aasawa, sa kabila ng pagsubok at sakripisyo, ay inspirasyon para sa aming mga pari sa pagmamahal at pagtitiyaga.” (Couples like you are a source of inspiration for us priests. Despite your personal sacrifices and challenges in the family, you continue to inspire us priests with your examples of love and patience.)

A sumptuous dinner followed, allowing the parish priests and their respective CFC Laguna parishioners to share not only a meal, but light moments, taking photos to capture the memories and the fun. Relationships were likewise renewed among priests with their previous parishioners. The clergy was treated to a community dance and alive performance from the Potenciano family, as well as the memorable and fun-filled videoke singing contest among the pre-selected priests led by no less than His Grace Bishop Famadico, as well as parish priests Fr. Rey Reloj, Fr. Albert, Fr. Emil Urriquia, Msgr. Alex Amante, Fr. AR Aposto, Fr. Perry Reveche and Fr. Jerry Gaela who was adjudged as the champion.

The more meaningful part of the night was the ceremonial pledge of unity between the Diocese of San Pablo and CFC Laguna, led by Bishop Famadico and CFC Chairman Melo Villaroman Jr.Following the pledge of unity, the lay and clergy prayed for one another, and performed the ceremonial toss of unity. CFC Laguna also gave out tokens of love and appreciation to their respective priests.

The event was truly an evening of fellowship and great joy, with laity and clergy sharing one direction to be Christ and bring Christ wherever they are.CFC Laguna Spiritual Director Fr. Emil Urriquia closed the celebrations with an exhortation and a prayer. It was indeed a night of fun, renewed friendships, fellow-ship, and above all, a night of unity with the Church.
