S.T.O.P D.R.U.G. A.B.U.S.E Pilots in MM West A

The CFC ReForm Program has piloted the Road to Recovery Program using the S.T.O.P. D.R.U.G. A.B.U.S.E module for drug surrenderers in Caloocan City. This is part of CFC ReForm’s commitment to help the Church and the local government in the values formation and counseling of community-based drug surrenderers.

The pilot was launched on February 19 at the Virgen ng Lourdes Parish, Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City.Sixteen residents from the different barangays in Bagong Barrio came for the first session, facilitated by Noel Deang, CFC ReForm Coordinator for Visayas and Mindanao.

The first session talked about the SELF, and how to bring back one’s dignity by knowing and loving oneself according to how God knows and loves man.

The S.T.O.P D.R.U.G. A.B.U.S.E module is interactive because the facilitator draws out the emotions, sentiments and convictions from the participants, and accompanies them in their journey towards physical and spiritual healing and eventually becoming productive citizens of the community once again.

Nonoy Caunga, Sector Head of MM West A, has thrown the support of his sector behind the Road to Recovery program, in coordination with Bishop Pablo David of the Diocese of Kalookan.

The CFC ReForm team is already preparing to respond to the request from CFC Central A to conduct the same program for the Sacred Heart Parish in Sta. Mesa, Manila.(Alma Alvarez)
