Two mission areas of Canada in East Africa held two separate Christian Programs in two new parishes.Usseri Parish- St John the Baptist in Moshi, Tanzania, conducted its very first Christian life program on October 22-28, 2017 with 271 participants. Fr. Emmanuel Ndekusara, parish priest, was instrumental in making this CLP a success.

In one of the Masses where he invited his parishioners to attend the CLP, he said that to be able to attend this activity one needs to sacrifice. He encouraged every parishioner to do his/her household chores early, plan activities and pray hard to be fully equipped in heeding the call of God.

The CLP Team was composed of Sylvester Mahiri, fulltime pastoral worker for Tanzania, and Valerian Elias Kimario, Chapter head of CFC Moshi, together with his members. Assisting them were Goi and Charm Villegas, fulltime pastoral workers from Kenya and Jun and Malou Clarito, Regional Coordinator for East Africa.

The Christian Life Program was held every day for 7 days from 1:30-5:00 PM. The program yielded 271 participants. There were 69 couples, forming 12 households; 112 Handmaids of the Lord forming 27 households; 17 Singles for Christ with 3 households; and 4 Servants of the Lord creating 1 household.

Indeed God is blessing the African mission areas with so much zeal as missionaries heed the call to expand the community’s reach.St. Mary Magdalene Parish located in Nairobi, Kenya opened its doors to Couples for Christ to conduct its first Christian Life Program with the blessing and support of its parish priest, Rev. Fr Ignatius Njue.

The CLP dedication day was held on October 29, 2017 during the Sunday mass. Eighteen (18) couples and four Handmaids of the Lord were welcomed and presented to the parishioners. It was a joyous celebration with so much dancing and singing. The CLP Team headed by Goi and Charm Villegas together with the local CFC leaders and members, welcomed the members with a feast consisting of African food followed by a short program where some participants shared how they feel about being new members of CFC. Jun and Malou Clarito were also present to show their support and to encour-age the new members to be the source of inspiration to other couples so that through witnessing, more couples will follow the path to holiness.(Malou Clarito)
