Eric Villanueva, International Missions Head for Africa and Europe, with his wife Pat recently paid a pastoral visit on CFC in Nairobi, Kenya.Villanueva gave a very inspiring talk to all the leaders of CFC Nairobi titled “Joy, a Fruit of God’s Spirit”, followed by a short sharing by his wife Pat. The leaders went home affirmed by the message about being joyful in all that they do and to be bold in spreading the word of God.

CFC Nairobi Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Simon Peter Kamamoe, treated the CFC team and the Villanueva couple to a sumptuous lunch as they shared with one another experiences in serving the community and the Church.Eric and Pat, together with the CFC Kenya Team, were welcomed in the residence of His Lordship Bishop David Kamau for an early breakfast meeting the following day. Villanueva shared the global update of Couples for Christ as well as his tasks in ensuring that CFC will be of assistance in build-ing the Church through strengthening of the families.

A visit to the Community of Hope Care Center gave both the children and the CFC Kenya Team a chance to mingle and know one another as the team shared with the children small packages sent by Kids for Christ from Hamilton, Canada packed during their World Day of Service. The children were delighted with their packages. As a sign of gratitude, the children offered songs and words of thanks made into a poem to the delight of the couple and the whole team. Sr. Hellen Celine Siratei, in charge of the Center, thanked the CFC for giving hope to the children under the ANCOP Sponsorship Program. During the visit to the SVD Center in Nairobi, the team met with Fr. Joseph Kallanchira, Zonal Director for SVD and Fr Samy Amaldoss. CFC will be collaborating with the SVD to help CFC in the evangelization of areas where SVD is present globally.

“There are so many beautiful aspects of our very first mission trip to Kenya. One will not understand it until you get to actually experience it,” Villanueva shared. “The CFC brethren in Kenya are one of the most welcoming, hospitable, beautiful and faithful group that I have ever encountered. Getting to know them even just for a short time was such a blessing,” he added.
