CFC Leaders and Elders Sign Up to Live Laudato Sí

OIKOS advocates Rene de Rueda and Rico Alconcel presented the OIKOS Programs plans and achievements during the joint recollection and planning of the CFC International Council and Board of Elders last October 7, 2017. Anchored on the papal encyclical Laudato Sí by Pope Francis, the program’s advocacy—Live Laudato Sí was soundly endorsed by the members of the IC and the BOE.

The IC and BOE members present signed the Laudato Sí pledge, indicating their affirmation of the program’s goals and their willingness to lead Couples for Christ in caring for Mother Earth, our common home. The advocacy is a response to Pope Francis’ call to take to heart the following actions: pray for and with creation, live more simply and protect our common home.

The advocacy is global with the Church called to take the lead. His Eminence Wilfrid Cardinal Napier, Archbishop of Durban, South Africa, released a significant stand regarding this action to uphold the importance of being stewards of God's creation. He said, “The Laudato Sí message is important because it is asking everyone to put the smile back on God's face as He continues to inspire and guide us, His children, to take care of creation, which He created so good.”

CFC has fully embraced the mission to restore and renew creation and the environment and to take care of what God has created. Those who wish to make a more active contribution to this advocacy may coordinate with local Oikos Coordinators or visit livelaudatosi.org.
