Maybank and Cornerstone: Enabling the Future

“Enabling Communities with Solutions” was the theme of this year’s Maybank World Corporate Responsibility Day held at the Tibagan Elementary School, Makati City last August 19, 2017.Maybank Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of of Malayan Banking Berhad, Malaysia, recently partnered with CFC Cornerstone in supporting the Elementary Reading Tutorial and Kids Values Formation initiatives for the students of the said school. 


Encik Akmal Che Mustafa, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Malaysian Embassy, in his inspirational remarks, reminded the students of their responsibility to be learners. “If you continue to achieve education in your life, remember to be generous, to live more and give more. Because always remember that when you give more, you live more,” he said.


Mustafa added that as the young pupils grow up, education will continue to take them far, not only as productive citizens but also as parents, members of society and as Filipinos.Riza Formilleza, Principal of Tibagan Elementary School, encouraged the students to continue to strive and work harder in their studies. She likewise enjoined the parents, teachers and volunteers to help the students achieve their goals. 


“Let us nurture them and make sure that we serve as their guiding light,” Formilleza said. As part of the Values Formation initiative, a storytelling session on the value of saving was done per grade level after the program.


CFC Cornerstone hopes for more projects between Tibagan Elementary School and Maybank Philippines Inc. in the mission to enable communities and help improve lives. (Andrelene Veloso)
