CFC Central A empowers parents through POPTalk

WE ARE Couples for Christ. We are committed to live in God’s righteousness and holiness, evangelizing people through a life of love and service; we shall work for the renewal of families that will serve God and build generations of Christian leaders; and, we shall pursue Total Christian Liberation through social justice, respect for life, and work with the poor.

This is the mission statement of Couples for Christ. In order to live out this mission statement, CFC has established various ministries and evangelization programs. In recent years, CFC has undertaken what it calls “gateway” evangelization, aimed not at recruiting active membership in the community but simply at promoting the values CFC stands for. These include active participation in parish programs such as Pre-Cana seminars, youth programs, health missions and the conduct of marriage enrichment retreats for couples.

CFC Central A held one such gateway activity in St. Therese Private School, Mandaluyong City, last February 25, 2017.

The activity, spearheaded by Richard and Lea Bunani, involved two sets of assemblies, one for the parents and the other for their children. In spite of the assemblies not being overtly CFC, but in a bid to emphasize the spiritual dimension of the activity, both of the assemblies began with an opening prayer.

In the parent’s assembly, Nic Escalona Jr., Evangelization and Missions Office coordinator of Couples for Christ, gave a session entitled ‘Building a Christian Family’.

In the kid’s assembly, the session was given by CFC Youth for Christ ROCK [Reaching out to Christ for Kids] entitled ‘Leading in Prayer, Lead by Example’.

At the end of the sessions, workshops and teaching of songs were conducted for both the parents and their children.

After the closing prayer, the families ended the activity with Kids Praise - songs of praise for kids to show their gratitude and love and respect for God. A total of 149 parents, 58 kids and 30 facilitators attended the activity. (CFC Global Communications)
