‘Prisonaries’: Restoring Hope with God’s Merciful Love

CFC Youth for Christ has 213 more members—23 female and 183 male residents of the Molave Youth Home at the City Hall Compound, Quezon City. All the new members attended and completed the Youth Camp held at the venue last May 27 to 28, 2017.

The Molave Youth Home, a welfare agency of the Quezon City Government, is a 24-hour rehabilitation center for children in conflict with the law (CICL), aged 15 to 18, who are lodged there by virtue of a court order from the Quezon City Family Courts.

Youth for Christ and Singles for Christ members have been actively involved in conducting values formation programs, counseling and fellowship activities to the residents in the center as volunteer service providers or ‘prisonaries’ as they call themselves, (short for prison missionaries). For this year, aside from their weekly visits to conduct formation activities, the team decided to conduct the Youth Camp following the module of the Youth for Christ entry point.

Sessions that talked about God’s Love and His Plans for Us given by Jhun  Anthony  Naces, Who is Jesus Christby Charriedel Disini, Repentance, Faith, Healing and Forgiveness by Renato Cayanan Jr. and the Gifts and Power of the Holy Spirit by Billy Quirante were presented in  a creative and relevant  way. The sacrament of reconciliation was also made available for the residents through guest priests Fr. Ronald Magbanua, CICM; Fr. Dominador Fernandez, SVD; Fr. Andrew Amanor, SVD; and Fr. Jerome Montesclaros, SVD.

Jhun Anthony Naces and Charlene Joy Arado from CFC-YFC West B Sector and Ken Lebrero and Ava Fogata, who head the volunteer team in MYH, led the conduct of the Youth Camp. Volunteer counselors from CFC  Project  ReForm, CFC’s program for drug rehabilitation and formation and CFC Isaiah 61:1, its Prison Ministry program, were also a part of the team that served during the weekend camp.
