CFC Project ReForm: Bringing God’s love to the peripheries

THE anti-illegal drugs  campaign  of the  new  administration  has spawned startling statistics in terms of the death toll  and  the sheer number of surrenderers  which  shows  the extent  of  the  drug problem.   But  it  is now also resulting in another statistic – the number  of  people and  organizations concerned about the future of  those  who have  surrendered and who have decided  to  do something about it.

CFC’s  response  to this crisis is the CFC Project  ReForm,  a faith, family  and community-centered  approach  to drug rehabilitation. From its conception, CFC Project ReForm has been engaged in community-based drug  rehabilitation programs,  mostly upon the invitation of  LGUs  and  parishes.  The  program involves awareness seminars in schools and institutions and continuous  training  for counselors coming from different  areas  in  Metro Manila and parts of Luzon,  Visayas  and Mindanao.

One  of  its  major involvements  in  the community-based drug rehabilitation program is its recent coordination  for  the conduct of a Christian Life Program for the drug  surrenderers  in Brgy. Pinagkaisahan, Quezon  City  under the West B Sector of CFC. The team, headed  by  Alfred  Reyes, gave  the  complete program  to 26 surrenderers.  Conducting  one  session  per week  for  the participants,  CFC  was able to  impart  lessons  in life,  hope  and rising from adversities, and also  on  what  being a  Christian means. Group  discussions followed each session but  unlike  the regular  CLP,  there  was also individual counseling for the participants.  The participants  even  attended a  recollection  and counselling  session on Holy Wednesday.
