The CFC Family Worldwide Consecration

The journey of CFC in the last three years has been, in a unique and more pronounced way, a journey with the Blessed Mother.

In 2012, the Blessed Mother taught and accompanied us in growing in holiness, in evangelization and in our work with the poor.  We sang with her the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) and every CFC around the globe heeded the call to “Proclaim the greatness of the Lord!”

In 2013, we were the servants at the Wedding Feast in Cana (John 2:1-11). We had the privilege to be told by the Blessed Mother: “Do whatever he tells you."  We then had the blessing to see how emptiness may be transformed to fullness, and witness Jesus transform water into the sweetest of wines.  God’s glory was revealed, and so we journeyed to “Obey and Witness!”

This year, 2014, the 33rd year of CFC, we have learned to ponder, after Mary’s constant disposition to treasure, ponder and “keep all things in her heart.” (Luke 2:16-19, 51-52).

As the year draws to a close, we have been prepared to behold, take to heart, and genuinely relate, with the very reflections of Pope Francis on the anchor verse of CFC’s theme this year—John 19:26,  (“He said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother.’).  Thus:
“Jesus left us his mother to be our mother. Only after doing so did Jesus know that “all was now finished” (John 19:28). At the foot of the cross, at the supreme hour of the new creation, Christ led us to Mary. He brought us to her because he did not want us to journey without a mother, and our people read in this maternal image all the mysteries of the Gospel.” (Evangelii Gaudium 285

Just like John, the beloved disciple, in John 19:27 (“And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.”), we now take her into our own homes. The global community of CFC is called to behold the Blessed Mother as the Queen of Families, the Virgin of the Poor, the Star of Evangelization, and the Mother of our community.

And so, on December 7, 2014, every member of Couples for Christ and its Family Ministries will be consecrated to the Blessed Mother, after a 33-day preparation using as guide the “33 days to Morning Glory” by Fr. Michael Gaitley. We enjoin everyone to pray for this special consecration to our Blessed Mother, that we may truly appreciate and anticipate our continuing journey with her.
