Equipping Volunteers at the TEACH Expo
Volunteers, coordinators and implementors of the Cornerstone program can choose from a total of 13 workshops during the 3rd TEACH Expo that is happening today, May 31, at the Singson Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University.

Among the workshops being offered are Classroom Management, Creative Teaching, Storytelling (for Beginners) Creative Teaching (Advanced) Advanced Storytelling, High School Cornerstone, Sustaining Cornerstone, Creating KFC Activities, Kids Praise Workshop, Evaluation and Monitoring, Building Partnerships, Awareness on Children with Special Needs, and Parents Values Formation Training.

These workshops aim to empower the volunteers in their teaching, as well as in dealing with some challenges that they encounter.

According to volunteer Claire Alonzo of SFC MM North B, the workshop she went to (Creating KFC Activities) made her realize that as a tutor she needs to know her tutee well before she can know how to handle them.

On the other hand, Jem Gagalang of SFC UP Chapter, a first-time attendee of the TEACH Expo, the worksop on Advanced Storytelling has given her new insights on how to catch and keep a child's attention during tutorial sessions.

Mary Austria, Provincial Coordinator for Handmaids of the Lord - Laguna, who attended the "Building Partnerships" workshop, became open to the idea that as volunteers, they can initiate and build partnerships with entities outside of CFC.

The TEACH Expo is an annual empowerment event organized by the Cornerstone Program, one of the education programs of Couples for Christ and CFC ANCOP-Tekton Foundation. It complements the existing Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) of CFC ANCOP. (AMAlvarez)
