The Blessing of God through CFC ANCOP

CFC ANCOP is a program within the community of CFC that seeks to help the poor with their own needs. Bro. George Verra, one of the scholars of CFC ANCOP, shares how God was able to bless him through the program in his studies and life. This is a story in which God’s grace manifests through the people around us.

George is a graduate of BS Accountancy. A certified public accountant, tax specialist, and tax technician, he is also studying to become a lawyer. But as far as he got to where he is right now, whatever he took on in life was not easy nor was it light. When he was still young, he already was faced with the realities of life. Unlike other children who played with their friends and enjoyed life, he was already working to get by financially. The sad reality that those who grew up in poverty face is that they have to forget about childhood and work to get food on the table.

And that was his life. Every day after school or during his free times, instead of playing, he worked to generate income. He sold food in front of his own school, and as an ambulant vendor, many other goods. Despite all this, he was still able to become a consistent honor student and is able to show his academic excellence. But it was right before college that he started to struggle financially. His college education and dream of finishing school were in jeopardy. Still, he continued to pray for God to let him enter college and have the chance to study and work for his dream.

Then, he received a call telling him that he made it under the ANCOP scholarship program. He was surprised because he did not apply for any scholarships, let alone the scholarship that ANCOP provided. Then he learned that it was through his teachers that he was admitted and was able to receive help. Through this, he was able to say how God used these teachers as instruments to bless other people.

Bro. George truly felt the presence of the Lord in their initiative. With not only financial but also mental and spiritual support from the community through his CFC coordinators and fellow scholars, Bro. George was able to overcome the hurdles of his life. His story makes us realize how the Lord is continuously preparing things for us. That the Lord not only gives us direction but also sends people to help us navigate through life and choose the destiny and plans that He has prepared for us.

This story teaches us not only of God’s love and the strength that perseverance gives, but also of potential ways on how people can still support the marginalized sectors through what they need. How we should not only strive to help them, but to also help change the system that makes the poor become even poorer. Truly, God can bless us—yet our blessings are not only for those who are close to us, but even for people we don’t know. Because through God’s grace, we are still connected despite struggle and uncertainty.
