In its mission to proclaim the greatness of the Lord in the Year of the Mission, Couples for Christ lent its time and manpower to the Pontifical Missions Societies – Philippines and the Episcopal Commission on Mission of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines for the successful staging of the Grand Missions Festival. With a delegation of around 3,000 clergy and laity, CFC was up to the task of providing the participants an avenue to remember history and to proclaim their faith by telling Jesus’ story.

The CFC mission core group (MCG) reflected on the Eucharist as “a mystery to be believed, celebrated and lived,” during the monthly MCG Teaching Night held on March 20, 2012, at the Christ the King Parish in Greenmeadows, Quezon City. Based on the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Sacramentum Caritatis, Fr. Joselito “Jojo” Buenafe, delivered a lecture on the Eucharist as the source and summit of our Christian life.

Leaders of CFC and its family ministries gathered at the Christ the King Parish to hear Bishop Broderick Pabillo, D.D., speak of the Church’s Verbum Domini. Bishop Pabillo is the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Manila.

The Verbum Domini is the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Benedict XVI. Since the time of Pope Paul VI, synods are conducted every four years among selected bishops from around the world to discuss a certain topic. Synods are conducted to consult bishops on improvements for the Catholic Church and to deepen the collegiality among the religious.

Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia, Bishop Paul Hinder, visited the Philippines from January 12 to 16, taking part in the various events of Couples for Christ in Manila.  This year’s community theme was truly highlighted by Bishop Hinder’s presence and support for CFC’s programs and activities through his empowering example of “proclaiming the greatness of the Lord” , him, being a servant of God in an area where Christianity is not the main religion.

In his sharing during the CFC Leaders Conference in Araneta Coliseum, Manila, Philippines, he said that “the desert (the Middle East) is blooming because of Couples for Christ.”  Indeed, CFC is the oasis of hope for God’s faithful servants wherever they may be.
